My apologies if I came on too heavy with this. I think we were beating up on
Sagan because of he took the "bully pulpit", as someone put it. I personally
do not think any amount of venom we can spew on Professor Sagan in this
discussion group could counter-balance what he and the CSIphers can and have
spit out into the popular media about WR.
Prior to Sagan's remark about orgone energy in the crop circle, the last
reference I saw to Reich in a mainstream newspaper was a comparison to John
Mack as Mack was facing dismissal at Harvard for his alien abduction work.
It was a vaguely worded threat that if Mack kept it up, they would do to him
what they did to Reich.
It seems to me that dismissal from Harvard is a badge of honor, but the kind
of intellectual atmosphere--where the memory of Reich should be one of a
certain amount of reverance and a great deal of regret and some fear over
what happened to him, but is instead held out as a threat to keep people in
line--should put some perspective on this perception that the discussion
group has formed a church around WR.
>I appreciate the opportunity to have disagreement here.
Bravo!..and I'd like to thank the group for stimulating discussion and wish
everyone a happy holiday.
