"">Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the copyright applies if the
material is not for sale. If I'm wrong there is plenty of material that is
in the public domain. I don't know what material that is specifically, but
Eva Reich does, and most probably Mary Higgins as well.""
I shall correct you and give an example. Copying the material and making it
available to others without permission is considered an infringement of
copyright. You have circumvented the original author or writer his ability
to receive income on the use of the material by others that normally would
of been paid. As a teacher myself I am quite aware of many of the copyright
laws that apply to what I may make available to students in class. These
laws also include video use laws.....jogg (PORE)
Example: A music teacher copies a score to some music to share with a class
at school. A student in the class who also is a writer of music notifies
the writer of the musical score that this copying of the material has taken
place. The write of the musical score sues the teacher for untold thousands
of dollars in court. The teacher is fined for infringement of copyright and
has to pay thousands awarded by the court to the writer of the musical
score. The student who informed on the teacher did so because he realized
that his own monies in life would also come from the purchase of the
material which wouldn't be bought if copies were made available to those
who normally would have purchased the material .
