One of the drawbacks to understanding conspiracies is the enormous amount of
research needed to get a "feel" for what went on. It's nearly impossible to
know all the facts because conspiracies by their nature are secret so much
or the information is in pieces or second or third hand. Mix this with
disinformation and the tendency of human beings to modify information that
they recieve then transmit and you've got herculean task.

This is an important point. Much conspiracy theory falls under this heading.
Plotting in secret is often not so much vindictive or selfish as it is
neurotic dysfunction that manifests itself subconsciously, i.e. emotional
plague. The realization of this can make one feel quite helpless and
vulnerable which may explain why some people are unable to accept that
conspiracies exist. To my mind this situation makes the likelyhood of human
beings acknowledging and solving their problems remote indeed. I hope I'm
overly pessimistic.
