=3D Dear John, I have been informed today via legal sources that the French
=3D court case against the supermarket Carrefour for selling Vitamin C
=3D 800mg tablets the court has ruled that the product IS A MEDICINE BY
=3D FUNCTION. This now has established a new precedent; The court even went
=3D further and ruled that Vitamin C in DOSAGES OF 250mg and 500mg are also
=3D DRUGS (medicinal).  The point at which it became a NON-medicine was=7F
=3D around 100mg - 150mg a day.

=3D Carrefour was found guilty and fined 20,000 French Fr. (About $4000).

=3D The european health food producers/sellers are alarmed and shocked. A
=3D hasty effort to attempt to counter the effects is being discussed. The
=3D decision was at a very delicate time. France is now in the process of
=3D drafting its own supplement proposals and the EU discussion paper is
=3D expected soon. France is one of the core countries behind the effort to
=3D get strict world limits on dietary supplements contents and dosage
=3D levels via Codex Alimentarius in October of this year. The WHO has
=3D already adopted the World Trade Organization as the agency which will
=3D officially decide the acceptable criteria such as dosages and which
=3D ingredients are acceptable to be in dietary supplements.
