If you want to get some excellent background on precursors to Reich's
discoveries, as well as a good overview of energetic work done in related
cultures, check out W. Edward (Ted) Mann's "Orgone, Reich, and Eros" (A
Touchstone Book: 1973) and his "The Man Who Dreamed of Tomorrow: A Conceptual
Biography of Reich" (J.P. Tarcher: 1980) written in association with Edward
Hoffman. Those books should give you a good perspective of Reich's place in
the historical evolution of the numerous life energy theories in Western and
Oriental societies. Highly recommended.
