One possible answer to these problems is to split the mailing list into 
two or more parts.  Some people don't seem interested in some items of 
discussion.

For example:  We've now seen several messages about what is appropritate 
on this list.  Why not put all of that discussion in a 
"orgonomy-appropriateness" list?  None of those messages have much to do 
with the subject of the list itself.
